The partners of Wright Lindsey Jennings are pleased to announce that four attorneys have been elected into partnership:Erika Ross Gee, Rodney P. Moore, Antwan D. Phillips and Hayden W. Shurgar.
Erika Gee is a member of the firm’s Government Relations Practice and a former Chief of Staff and Chief Deputy in the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office. Since returning to WLJ in 2015, she has put her years of experience as general counsel for state agencies and licensing boards to work assisting clients in resolving their regulatory and administrative disputes with state government. She also represents clients in government relations matters, including advocacy and policy development with state agency officials, the Attorney General’s Office and the Executive and Legislative branches of government.
Gee has a particular expertise in pharmacy regulatory matters and a large part of her practice is focused on representing national, regional and local pharmacies, wholesale distributors, pharmaceutical manufacturers and individuals in licensure and disciplinary issues involving the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy. She also represents clients in administrative disciplinary matters before boards of pharmacy in other states, in enforcement actions by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and in investigations of 503A and 503B compounding pharmacies by state boards and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.
Gee regularly serves a speaker and author on compliance and legislative topics. She is a frequent contributor on political and regulatory issues for Arkansas Business and other publications, and is a member of Class XI of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Arkansas.
Rodney Moore provides advice and representation for businesses in the healthcare, banking, technology and insurance industries. Additionally, he represents clients in commercial litigation; multi-party and class action litigation; and appellate matters. Prior to joining the firm, Moore was partner at Wright, Berry, Moore & White, P.A. in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Moore is an active member of the American Bar, Arkansas Bar and Pulaski Bar Associations, and is a regular speaker and author on appellate law issues, trial practice and legal writing. He is a chapter author of the Handling Appeals in Arkansas Manual published by the Arkansas Bar Association.
In 2016, Moore was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in recognition of the advocacy, ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality he displays in his trial practice. Moore was inducted as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2012 and a Fellow of the Arkansas Bar Foundation in 2011. The Arkansas Bar Association awarded Moore the Presidential Award of Excellence in 2009 for his contributions to the legal profession and support of the Association’s mission. He has been selected as a Faculty Member for the Supreme Court of Arkansas Professional Practicum Seminar since 2008. Moore has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers since 2013 and by Best Lawyers in America since 2009 in the areas of Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs and Defendants. In addition, Best Lawyers in America recognized him as Lawyer of the Year in 2015. Moore has received an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating through LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, www.martindale.com/ratings.
Antwan Phillips has a trial-oriented practice. His practice includes personal injury defense, premises liability, products liability, dental malpractice and trucking litigation. Phillips also represents a number of county and municipal governments on a variety of municipal law and finance issues.
In 2013, Arkansas Business included Phillips in the annual “20 in their 20s” issue. Mid-South Super Lawyers has recognized him as a “Rising Star” in the area of Civil Litigation Defense since 2014. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Arkansas Bar Association, Pulaski County Bar Association, National Association of Bond Lawyers, Defense Research Institute (DRI) and Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel. In 2016, he was appointed Vice Chair of DRI’s Young Lawyers Specialized Litigation Group. He is also a member and executive committee member of the Overton Inn of Court. In 2012, Phillips graduated as a Fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates Trial College, after completing intensive trial training at Harvard Law School in Boston, MA.
Phillips is an alumnus of the Arkansas Commitment program and is the past President of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas Board of Directors. He is also the President of the Public Education Foundation of Little Rock and a member of the Little Rock Area Public Education Stakeholders Group as appointed by the State Board of Education. Phillips was also selected as one of the co-chairs for Think Big Little Rock, a group established by Fifty for the Future and the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, which is charged with strategizing ways to enhance life in Little Rock and the surrounding communities.
Hayden Shurgar has an active litigation practice and focuses on defending medical providers in malpractice and professional liability claims. She also advises clients on healthcare regulatory issues, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its amendments. She is a Certified HIPAA Professional and Certified HIPAA Security Specialist and provides HIPAA training and review of HIPAA policies and procedures for clients. Shurgar is a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the 6th Judicial District of Arkansas where she handled a wide variety of cases and tried more than twenty jury trials.
In 2015, Shurgar was selected to Mid-South Super Lawyers list of “Rising Stars” in the area of Health Care law. Shurgar is a Fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and she is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, Pulaski County Bar Association, American Association of Women Lawyers, Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute. Shurgar serves as a member of the Historic Arkansas Museum Foundation Board and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Open Arms, an organization that provides both temporary and long-term housing to children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
