Hayden Shurgar has an active litigation practice and focuses on defending medical providers in malpractice and professional liability claims. She also advises clients on healthcare regulatory issues, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its amendments. She is a Certified HIPAA Professional and Certified HIPAA Security Specialist and provides HIPAA training and review of HIPAA policies and procedures for clients. Shurgar is a former Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the 6th Judicial District of Arkansas where she handled a wide variety of cases.
In 2015, Shurgar was selected to Mid-South Super Lawyers’ list of “Rising Stars” in the area of Health Care law. Shurgar is a Fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
She is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, Pulaski County Bar Association, American Association of Women Lawyers, Arkansas Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute.
Shurgar serves as a member of the Historic Arkansas Museum Foundation Board and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Open Arms, an organization that provides both temporary and long-term housing to children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
